WordPress Blog With Mandigo Theme Not Displaying Via Firefox

As you can see we have the Mandigo theme installed for this WordPress blog. Earlier today I was doing some testing I and noticed the site was not displaying when trying to view the site with FireFox version 3.0.1 which is the newest release at this time. I was running Mandigo version 1.36.2 and a new version (Mandigo 1.3.7) had been released so I decided to start my troubleshooting by upgrading. After the upgrade the problem still existed so I had to dig deeper.

I went through all sorts of steps to locate the issue but ended up contacting Tom at OneHertz.com the creators of Mandigo and he provided a resolution. He thinks that Google may have changed the Adsense code thus causing the problem with Mandigo and Firefox. The true issue is not with Mandigo but with Google Adsense ads JavaScript conflicting with jQuery use in the Mandigo Theme. The fix was to replace code in the Mandigo theme footer.php as follows.

No Titles After Importing Blogger To WordPress

I imported an old Blogger account into a WordPress blog recently and my titles did not import correctly. So there I was stuck with 500 posts with no titles. I decided the easiest way to fix that would be to copy the post dates from the Blogger account to the titles in WordPress. So here is a fairly quick and dirty way to import qd_db_posts.post_date to qd_db_posts.post_title.

This will all be completed from your OS shell which in this case was CentOS 5.2.

How To Easily Post Code Snippets In Your WordPress Blog

Ever since we started this site I have been struggling with posting code snippets into WordPress blog posts. First I was attempting to use the <pre> and <code> tags but they would blow out the side of my Mandingo theme with two columns. I would then try to go through the code and break the lines at the right places trying to do the formatting myself… no a brilliant idea. Justin whom also posts on this site suggested Markdown which works great. I even put some effort into learning it and don’t mind using it at all. I installed the Text Control plugin and replaced its markdown.php with Markdown Extras markdown.php file which worked like a charm. My problem was that I was still blowing out the side of my theme. After a fairly long search I found a plugin that I did not find on WordPress.org but directly on the developers site called QuickCode which you can locate here
