Windows 7: Telnet Is Not Recognized As An Internal Or External Command

I needed to test a Exim mail server from my Windows 7 laptop a little while ago and was surprised when I typed telnet I received an error. The error indicated that the telnet client was not installed on my laptop which seemed odd since I have Windows 7 Ultimate. I assume that telnet in general is being phased out of most operating systems in general however it is a great tool for troubleshooting. After a little digging around in the Windows Programs Control Panel I was able to easily install telnet. Follow the directions below to install telnet on your Windows 7 computer.

Modify Or Install Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 SP1 On Windows 7

While looking into some minor issues with some third party applications on Windows 7 Ultimate 64-Bit I needed to verify that Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 SP1 was installed. I initially looked in the Programs list but I did not find it there so I thought that it might not be installed. I went ahead and downloaded the Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 SP1 installation file and proceeded to install. The error below popped up and explained the proper location to verify the .NET Framework was installed.

Enable Outlook 2007 Search And Indexing On A Computer Running The Windows 7 Operating System

I am using Outlook 2007 on my new laptop that is running Windows 7 Ultimate. When I first received the laptop I decided to disable Windows Instant Search because in the past it has always slowed my computers down so much it wasn’t worth having it enabled. I was messing around with the Outlook 2007 settings and noticed that Indexing and Search was not available to configure because it was greyed out. Needless to say I wanted to give Windows Instant Search a shot so I could have these features available in Outlook 2007. Below is how I enabled Windows Instant Search and verified Outlook 2007 indexed various folders and messages on Microsoft Windows 7.
