I have been meaning for a long time to set some configuration parameters for specific file types including which applications open them by default. I deal with a lot of different file types and I am typically having to scroll through a long list of Mac applications to select the one that I want to open the file. Since its not easy to do this in one spot on Mac OSX Mountain Lion without adding a third party application I started looking around to see what was available and ended up with Default Apps by Rubicode. Below I describe installing Default Apps and how it works.
When running SQLDict on Backtrack Linux it is possible to run into an issue where SQLDict crashes when loading the password file. The issue appears to be that the SQLDict executable is expecting the password file to have a file ending on it no matter what it is and if not it causes SQLDict and Wine to crash on BT5 r3. Below the error is displayed along with a work around for the problem.
On Windows I use Notepad++ religiously however since Notepad++ is not available for OSX I am trying to become familiar with TextMate. So far TextMate is pretty solid but there are a couple things that make it less convenient to use. One of the primary items I noticed almost immediately was the fact that TextMate does not support tabs in the same way that Notepad++ does. The good news is there is a work around where you can use tabs in a very similar manner. Use the information below to work with tabs in TextMate which if you are like me you require easy access to numerous text documents at the click of a button.
Earlier today I was about to write an article but was first going to prepare some images for that article when I attempted to launch Photoshop. During the launch of Adobe Photoshop CS4 on my Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit laptop the application crashed which I have seen before and simply restarting the application resolved the issue. This time when I attempted to restart Photoshop the exact same thing would happen each time. Below I describe the specific error message that displayed during the Photoshop crash and what I did to resolve the problem.
There may come a time when you need to hide some sensitive data and send it in a email. Although there are better ways to do this with GPG keys, the old hide the code in some thing else trick is still a good one. The program we will use for this is called steghide. The source and more information can be found here.
