How To Unjailbreak GreenPoison, Remove GreenPois0n From Your iPhone

I had been wanting to jailbreak my iPhone 4 for quite awhile but since I had upgraded to Apple iOS release 4.2.1 there was not an untethered jailbreak available at the time and since I typically turn my iPhone completely off I didn’t want to deal with the untethered jailbreak. So needless to say when GreenPois0n rc5 was released I was pretty excited. GreenPois0n rc5 made it extremely easy to jailbreak iPhone’s running iOS 4.2.1. After running it for around a month now though I noticed that I really don’t install enough applications outside of what is available via the iTunes App Store to warrant the jailbreak and especially because I have personally noticed that with my iPhone jailbroken it had slowed down a bit. Not only had it slowed down but my battery appeared to be draining much quicker which I assume was from more processes running. I made the decision a couple days ago to roll back to the stock iPhone 4.2.1 firmware to see if my phone started running more efficiently. Below are instructions for rolling back the GreenPois0n firmware on an iPhone 4 to the Apple iOS 4.2.1 firmware release.

Lacie 2Big Network NAS Device: Shares Not Displaying In The Admin Interface

A small business I with has a Lacie 2Big Network NAS device which they use as a place for users personal folders and a company wide share. The Lacie 2Big Network has a lot of features for a little device that I initially though was basically nothing more than an external hard drive. This is not the case though and the Lacie 2Big Network functions as a feature full Network Access Server for small businesses. The software on the device though had been causing lots of problems including not allowing me to configure new users on existing shares, slow file transfers, and automatically logging me out from the web admin interface. The main issue though was the device was basically stuck in its current configuration since I could not add new users to shares. Below I describe the software that was on the device followed by a software update that resolved all of the issues.

How to Restore Your iPhone to Original Settings and Restore From a Backup

There are various scenarios where you may need to restore your iPhone to the original settings. After restoring to the original settings you can then restore your iPhone from a backup but the problem with this may be the initial conflict could have been caused either by a setting or an application installed on the iPhone. Recently I reset my iPhone to its original settings because I thought it would resolve an issue I was having with Visual Voicemail however it did not end up resolving my issue because after restoring from the backup the conflict that caused Visual Voicemail to not work was restored and so Visual Voicemail stopped working again. I will explain the details behind that in another post but below I describe the process of first restoring the original settings to the iPhone followed by restoring everything else from a backup.
