Change Default Mail Client On OSX To Microsoft Outlook For Mac

When clicking on hyperlinks that are set to open a compose email message on OSX the Mail.app application will launch. Since it is likely that your preferred email application is something other than Mail.app such as Mozilla Thunderbird, Opera, Microsoft Outlook for Mac, Postbox, Sparrow, or something else then you will want to change the default email client to your preferred email application. In my case I use MS Outlook for the Mac so I needed to set the default email client to Outlook. Use the directions below to modify the default application that opens to compose email messages.

Outlook 2007 Reply, Reply All, and Forward Are All Greyed Out

If you have recently installed or are in the process of upgrading Microsoft Outlook 2007 there is a possibility that some of the functionality is disabled. This functionality could be disabled for many reasons though all have easy solutions which I walk through below.

Activate Software:Make sure your software is activated no matter if it is just a trial or if you have the full version of Outlook 2007 you have to make sure the software is activated. If you are unsure you can check to see if Outlook 2007 is activated by clicking Help in the top menu and then selecting “Activate Product”. If the product is activated you will see the below message stating “The product has already been activated”.

Microsoft Outlook – The Address List Could Not bBe Displayed

After removing a Microsoft Outlook Exchange account from my Outlook configuration I was stuck with an address book configured that no longer existed. When I would click the Address Book in MS Outlook I would receive the below error.

Error: The address list could not be displayed. The Contacts folder associated with this address list could not be opened; it may have been moved or deleted, or you do not have permissions. For information on how to remove this folder from the Outlook Address Book see Microsoft Office Outlook Help.
