As you know we think that oclHashcat is one of the best password crackers available and along with Hashcat and John The Ripper are pretty much the only password crackers we use at this point. Earlier someone asked me to crack some OpenLDAP hashes which come in SHA and SSHA format and the below example includes only the OpenLDAP SHA format hashes.
I typically use Hashcat and oclHashcat in a Linux environment however I wanted to play around with the Windows version which includes the Hashcat-gui. When attempting to run the Hashcat-gui on my Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit laptop to brute force a list of MD5 hashes I was receiving an error. The error is described below along with how it was resolved temporarily until a fix can be provided.
