The default logins are noted in the pfSense documentation as well as numerous locations on the pfSense website however I am noting here for our own benefit. We try to remember so many default logins that we sometimes forget the easiest ones including the fact that pfSense uses a different username as default for SSH and for the pfSense admin GUI. So to make it easiest to find I have noted them below.
I am a big fan of ClientExec as it is easy to install and very easy to use. Over the years it has always been easy to upgrade and the support is prompt. If you want to add Google Analytics to your ClientExec installation you simply need to add it in two locations if you are using the default template and if you are using a custom ClientExec template then you need to add it in one more location.
Recently I have started working a lot more with various F5 hardware including BIG-IP LTM’s or BIG-IP Local Traffic Managers. F5 provides a VMware image so you can have a test environment running as a virtual machine. This is a great place to complete testing, example configurations, etc. Once you start the F5 BIG-IP LTM VE virtual machine you will need to login with the default username and password which is noted below along with screenshots so you can ensure you are logging in via the correct console prompt.
I always keep remote desktop enabled at home. The reason for this is that any time my wife is having a pc issue, instead of trying to talk her through it on the phone, I just remote in and fix it. As many people who follow this site may know I recently switched from Linux to Windows 7 as my daily operating system. This morning I saved a file as the default “save” in word instead of “save as” which is what I normally do. I then looked in my users My Documents directory and the file wasn’t there. At this point I was perplexed and a little annoyed so I ran a search for the file and found it in C:/Users/Public/My Documents which is not where I wanted it to go. I am not sure whether this was user error and I just somehow set up my system wrong or if this is the default Windows 7 behavior. Either way I decided to out line how I straightened it out.
