How to Enable Spell Check in X-Chat IRC Client

Ever since I started using windows I had to switch for irssi to X-chat for my irc client. I know there is a irssi for Windows but it lacked many of the features the Linux version has. So anyway, I am a horrible speller so I decided I needed spell check on X-Chat. Turns out it is pretty easy to do so I decided to make a quick post on the steps.

Backtrack 4: Information Gathering: Route: 0trace – Traceroute Firewall Bypass Tool

This is the first in a series of Backtrack 4 articles I will be writing regarding the tools available within Backtrack 4. I am fairly new to Backtrack so please comment, teach me, ask questions, or whatever you prefer in the comments section below. I am going to try to go down the list of every single Backtrack 4 tool and write a complete description including instructions on how to use the tools. This first article is on 0trace (0trace.sh) which allows you to perform a traceroute from within an established TCP connection such as HTTP which will be demonstrated below.

Mount Shared Drives using Active Directory and a Log On Script

I recently completed a job were the company insisted in powering down the work station every night. This caused a problem because there were shared drives on the server which did not reconnect a boot time. The drives would appear to be disconnected with red X’s however when the user clicked on them they would connect. So although they were working the fact that they did not auto connect was annoying.

SVN: This client is too old to work with working copy

I recently came across a error with subversion which seems to happen on Ubuntu / Debian based distros which utilize the apt-get package management system. Its a small bug and a easy fix however it did take me a little time to figure it out so I felt like maybe a short post might help the next guy.

The Exact Error:

svn: This client is too old to work with working copy ‘/pentest/exploits/framework3’.  You need
to get a newer Subversion client, or to downgrade this working copy.
See http://subversion.tigris.org/faq.html#working-copy-format-change
for details

I got this particular error while trying to svn update the metasploit framework on Backtrack 4, however, I also got the same error while trying to update redmine the other day via svn. The solution is quite simple, what happens is the the .svn hidden files in a svn co directory fail to update for some reason so  when when you issue the svn up command, the project thinks your svn version is out dated.
