Recently I was looking to obtain a couple specific DNS record ID’s for domains with DNS hosted in the RackSpace Cloud so I could use the information to interact with RackSpace Instances through RightScale. Various RightScale ServerTemplates such as the MySQL Cluster ServerTemplates require you to enter the exact DNS record ID as RightScale Inputs for the ServerTemplate. I am not sure why the record ID’s are not listed in a column in the RackSpace Cloud DNS management interface but regardless the below method of querying the RackSpace API make it fairly easy to obtain them regardless.

I downloaded the Slicehost Pro iPhone application a long time ago and didn’t have much time at that point to look into what the issue might be. After not getting the Slicehost iPhone app working immediately I pretty much forgot about it until I needed it recently. This time around I spent more time looking into what the issue might be and as able to come up with a solution fairly regularly. Below I describe the error in detail, how to resolve the error, and another possible error you might see including the resolution if you do see the second error.

The end goal is to be able to receive Push Notifications on your iPhone in a couple different scenarios including whenever someone posts a comment to an article on your WordPress blog, when new users register on your WordPress blog, or when users send you direct messages using your WordPress mobile theme’s contact form. You may or may not be familiar with Push Notifications on your iPhone so I will explain specifically what they are below but the short explanation is they are notification messages of some sort that will pop up on your iPhone without you having to have a specific application already open.
