I recently completed a reinstall of Windows 7 on my Dell laptop and have been having to reconfigure everything for a couple days to get back up and running the same way I was before the reinstall. One thing I decided to actually upgrade in the process was Microsoft Office from MS Office 2007 to MS Office 2010. So far it appears that Office 2010 is much less bulky than 2007 so I am really happy with the upgrade choice even though typically during a reinstall I try not to upgrade many things so if there are any problems it is easier to isolate the issues. One thing that changed in Office 2010 was the nickname cache or the use of NK2 files so you have to actually import your NK2 file into Outlook 2010 for nicknames to start working. Follow the directions below to import your NK2 file into Outlook 2010.
I use Outlook 2007 to manage email and to schedule appointments or meeting requests. Recently Outlook crashed and required a scan of the PST file before it would operate properly again. All seemed to be working without issue and then one of my recurring meetings continued to alert me that it was time for the meeting which was incorrect. After dismissing the item it would continue to warn of the issue which lead me to believe that the recurring meeting entry had become corrupted. After poking around some more I was able to verify that the meeting was in fact corrupted and read about all sorts of various steps that could be taken to resolve the issue. After attempting many of those steps including the /cleanreminders switch the meeting still existed and was still corrupted. Below I describe the error in more detail and a simple way to resolve a corrupted recurring meeting entry in the Outlook 2007 calendar.
Recently I have been sending a lot of emails to a colleague in Portugal whose name ends é. While I was told it is not so rude to simply not include the accent above the E I actually prefer to include the accent to display respect since he actually includes the accent over the E in his signature. Since I am using Outlook 2007 the below Outlook keyboard shortcut will provide the easiest method for you to insert an E with an accent over the top in emails that you compose. After information related specifically to the accent over the E I also discuss inserting other non English symbols into email messages composed with Outlook.
I am using Outlook 2007 on my new laptop that is running Windows 7 Ultimate. When I first received the laptop I decided to disable Windows Instant Search because in the past it has always slowed my computers down so much it wasn’t worth having it enabled. I was messing around with the Outlook 2007 settings and noticed that Indexing and Search was not available to configure because it was greyed out. Needless to say I wanted to give Windows Instant Search a shot so I could have these features available in Outlook 2007. Below is how I enabled Windows Instant Search and verified Outlook 2007 indexed various folders and messages on Microsoft Windows 7.
Even though older versions of Microsoft Word do not allow you by default to view .docx files created from Word 2007 you can install a compatibility pack that will allow you to do so. It is also possible for Word 2007 users to save files as .doc files instead of .docx files. Below we explain how to accomplish each goal.
