Use GoDaddy.com DNS Services To Redirect A Sub Domain

I recently developed a web site for a client on a temporary domain which was clientname.mydomain.com. After launching the site and modifying the recipients of the contact forms on the site I happened to get a contact form to my email address. I finally realized that the issue was not with the site I had moved live but someone this person who used the contact form had found the temporary site where I had done the development before pushing the site live. Anyhow the temporary domain’s DNS was hosted on GoDaddy.com so I decided to put in place a forward or redirect so anyone visiting the temporary domain would be redirected to the actual live domain. This redirect needed to be for a sub domain which I initially had to hunt for a bit to locate. Follow the directions below to redirect a sub domain using GoDaddy.com’s DNS services.

Disable Zoom On Dell Touchpad, Modify Dell Touchhpad Settings

I have been fairly impressed with Windows 7 and my new Dell laptop. One of the items that had been getting on my nerves was the fact that I would randomly zoom in or zoom out of various screens I was on specifically when using a web browser. This is done by pinching two fingers together on the Dell touchpad and while I was not doing this on purpose the way I use the touchpad must simulate this pinch an awful lot. Follow the directions below to disable the pinch zoom for your Dell touchpad on a computer running Windows 7 or Windows Vista.

Adjust Hybrid SLI Settings Under Power Options on Windows 7

I was working on my new laptop and have been having some crashes. After analyzing some of the dump files I determined that I was having some video driver issues. When I first got the laptop I remember setting the hybrid sli mode to high performance.  After deciding I should probably switch this setting back to the default mode I was not able to find the option to switch it back. I couldn’t remember how I set it in the first place so I did a little googling and it told me there should be a GPU section under the advanced section of power settings.

How To Remove Personal Security Virus From Windows Computer

A client of mine called me in a panic yesterday because a laptop he uses for work got infected with the Personal Security virus. Personal Security is a nasty virus, also sometimes called antispyware or malware, that takes over your computer and attempts to get you to purchase the software. The virus actually makes the end user think that it is legit software and they are only doing you a favor by protecting your computer however this is not the case. Below I describe things that the virus will do to blend in to Windows as well as a method I have discovered as one of the easier ways to remove it.

Import Microsoft Outlook Express Contacts Into Yahoo Mail

A client of mine still has a computer running Microsoft Outlook Express and they wanted me to import the address book contacts into their Yahoo Mail account. At first I was a little worried that Yahoo Mail may no longer support the format of Outlook Express address book contacts but then I remembered that you can export contacts into a CSV (Comma Separated Values) file which means I could manipulate the data if it was not supported. Yahoo Mail says that it supports import from Outlook but it doesn’t specify Outlook Express. I assume the format between Outlook and Outlook Express must be similar because Yahoo Mail did import the exported contacts from Outlook Express. Below I describe how to export Outlook Express contacts and then import those contacts into Yahoo Mail. Follow the instructions below that are broken into two parts which include exporting the contacts using Outlook Express and then importing the contacts using the Yahoo Mail web interface.
