Windows Floppy Drive: No ID Address Mark Was Found On The Floppy Disk

Last week I tried a bunch of different methods to try and upgrade a Dell PE650 BIOS. I finally settled on using a floppy disk to upgrade the BIOS however I initially ran into some issues with various floppy drives and floppy disks. One of the issues was an error message I received when attempting to access the floppy disk located within a floppy drive I had just installed on a Windows XP computer. Below I describe the error and how I was able to get past this specific error.

Upgrade The BIOS On A Dell PE650, Upgrade Poweredge 650 BIOS

I spent a lot of time trying to figure out the best way to upgrade the BIOS on a Dell Poweredge 650. I had multiple problems because I didn’t have a floppy drive to use at first and the fact that the PE650 is an older Dell server model. Since I didn’t have a floppy drive to test with initially I attempted to use the Dell System Build & Update Utility however I was unable to ever get it working properly. Initially the problem was simply getting the tool downloaded. Finally I decided to order a floppy drive and below are instructions to upgrade the PE650 using a floppy disk.

PostgreSQL: Server Instrumentation Not Installed. The Server Lacks Instrumentation Functions.

When connecting to a PostgreSQL database using pgAdmin you may receive an error letting you know that the server instrumentation is not installed. This is a warning to let you know that you can install the adminpack contribution which will provide more functionality to pgAdmin including the ability to modify the pg_hba.conf and postgresql.conf configuration files. Below is information on the pop up warning you may receive when logging into a Postgres database using pgAdmin III as well as how to install the adminpack to not receive the error any longer.
