We recently purchased a Roku Digital Video Player at our office and have been experimenting with it. The Roku remote is very simple with minimal buttons which is nice in most scenarios but whenever you have to type anything into the Roku it is fairly annoying that there is not a keyboard available. To resolve that issue and require you to have one less remote on your coffee table it is worth checking out DVPRemote which is an iPhone application that lets you take full control of your Roku device. Below is more information regarding DVPRemote including some of the benefits of this iPhone application.

DVPRemote Features For Roku iPhone Remote:
- Keyboard For Roku: I have to say that my favorite feature of the DVPRemote iPhone application is the fact that it has a keyboard which makes various Roku configurations much easier! Below is a picture of the Roku keyboard in action.
The first image above shows what the Roku Remote on your iPhone will look like. To bring up the Roku keyboard simply click the keyboard image located to the left of the OK pad. This will display the keyboard as shown in the second image which then functions like a typical iPhone keyboard. - Roku Gesture Pad: The DVPRemote gesture pad allows you to control your Roku Digital Video Player using finger motions on your iPhone as explained in the below example image of the DVPRemote gesture pad help page.
The DVPRemote gesture pad can be opened by clicking the small hand icon in the top right corner of the DVPRemote screen. As you can see in the image above some of the Roku remote tasks you can accomplish with the DVPRemote gesture pad include moving the Roku cursor (up, down, left and right), instant replay, play, rewind, fast forward, and clicking OK.
- Roku Netflix Control: The DVPRemote iPhone application allows you to configure your Netflix Instant Queue so you can then easily stream Netflix movies via your Roku device. To open Netflix via DVPRemote click on the More menu item located in the bottom right corner of DVPRemote and select Netflix IQ as shown in the below example image.
Once you click on Netflix IQ you will be required to link DVPRemote with your Netflix account as shown in the below image.
Once a successful connection has been made between DVPRemote and Netflix the below message will display in DVPRemote on your iPhone.
Now click the Title To Watch button located to the left of Login to view your Netflix Instant Queue via DVPRemote on your iPhone.
DVPRemote is a great application for controlling your Roku and in my opinion is much better than the typical remote as long as you have an iPhone it is well worth the $2.99.
