Working on a project for a client a couple days ago I needed a good way to display WordPress blogroll links on various pages and posts. The plugin would hopefully provide a method to sometimes display all blogroll links and other times display only blogroll links of a specific category. Below I discuss the plugin I settled on and some of the capabilities of the plugin.
Display WordPress Blogroll Links By Category:
The plugin that I ended up using because it provided the most solid functionality was WP Render Blogroll Links which can be downloaded from the WordPress plugins directory here. This plugin provides a ton of functionality which allows you to display blogroll links in a variety of ways by using WP shortcode. Not only is it easy to install but the WP Render Blogroll Links is really easy to use. Below are a couple of the options available to allow you to display blogroll links using shortcode.
Display All Blogroll Links From A Specific Category By Specifying Category Name:
- [wp-blogroll catname=News]
Display All Blogroll Links From A Specific Category By Specifying Category ID:
- [wp-blogroll catid=22]
Display Multiple Blogroll Categories By Category ID:
- [wp-blogroll catid=22,35]
Display A Limited Amount Of Links From All Categories:
- [wp-blogroll limit=10]
There are many other variables that can be used to manipulate how you display the blogroll links. Some of the other variables include url, target, description, owner, rating, updated, notes, rss, and length. You can get a description of all of the variables and more information about the plugin by clicking here.
