Your WordPress blog automatically has RSS feed functionality built into it. This allows people to aggregate data from multiple sites in one location to read a lot of data quickly. I personally prefer reading the data on each specific site however I have a lot of friends who prefer to use RSS feeds and then if they want to they will visit the site for more information. One of my friends recently pointed out that it would be nice if he knew when articles had comments associated to them so if a post had more data related to the post included in the comments he could read them. WordPress by default includes a post feed and a comment feed. The comment feed is not very useful since its a full list of comments and doesn’t organize them by post so if there is a conversation between numerous people in one article its hard to read correctly.
To resolve the above issue there is a plugin you can install that will add a link to each posts comments after each post is summarized in the RSS (Really Simple Syndication) feed. The plugin to install is called “Feed Comments Number” which also has some configuration options that can be modified. In WordPress 2.8.x the plugin can be installed directly from your WP admin web site. Click the Plugins link in the left navigation menu to expand the options underneath. Once expanded click “Add New” to open the WordPress plugin installation page. Type in “Feed Comments Number” in the search field and then click the Search button as shown in the below image.
Feed Comments Number will be at the top of the results page. Click on the title of the plugin which will pop open the details about the plugin as shown below.
Install Feed Comments Number WordPress Plugin:
Click the Install Now link to install the plugin. Once installed click the Activate link to activate the plugin. Once installed the “Add a Comment” or “Comments(X)” will show up after each post in your RSS feed. If the post has no comments associated to it then the “Add a Comment” link will show up which will be a link to allow readers of the feed to click it to post a comment to the post. If there are already comments associated to the post then a link to those comments will display.
This type of plugin will encourage more comment participation and thus generate more traffic for your WordPress site.
Thanks worked out for me.
Lame… Dustin Lifford look up “Dustin Lifford WordPress” and you’ll find that the “expert” that assists you is really someone who skims pages like this for free and then charges you for his services. He is but another charlatan of the web. Save your money there are better solutions out there than the one this fraud offers.
Hello Joey,
I believe that all Dustin did was say that the article I wrote worked for him… not sure I understand the big deal. If you have an issue with his services you should take it up with him.
Thanks.
