Below are a couple tips for replacing memory on a Macbook (1.1) laptop. Make sure to purchase the proper memory as noted below and always handle the Macbook and RAM carefully.
- Purchase Correct Memory: I upgraded this Macbook from 512MB of RAM to 2GB of RAM. It uses PC5300 DDR2 667 MHz so-dimm memory.
- Carefully Remove: Follow the instructions from the below manual to remove the memory.
- Insert New Memory: Make sure the memory is aligned properly and you may have to push pretty hard to get it inserted all the way. I had a problem with this because I thought there is no way I had to push that hard, well I did have to push that hard.
- Verify Memory: Now click on the apple menu followed by “About This Mac” and then the “More Info” button. Now you need to locate Memory in the left menu and click it. It should describe what is in each memory bay.
Thats it. Here is the Apple manual to replace this memory.
