It is not stated clearly on pgAdmin’s site if it will operate on Windows Vista without issue so I decided to download, install and see if there were any issues.
First I visited pgAdmin III Windows download page here. On this page it states that pgAdmin III will work with Windows 2000, Windows XP, and Windows 2003. The current version during my test was pgAdmin III version 1.8.4.
I downloaded and installed the pgAdmin III version 1.8.4 Windows installer to my Windows Vista desktop and double clicked the .exe to run the installer. The pgAdmin application installed without an errors so I was hopeful everything would work properly.
I was able to login to numerous servers, drop databases, add databases, and modify tables so I assume there are not any issues with pgAdmin on Windows Vista. I did read though that some people were having a problem with backing up and restoring databases from Vista. I assume the issue there is a version mismatch between the pg_dump versions which can be resolved by visiting this link also provided by Question Defense.
