I updated my iPhone to iOS Beta 6 a couple weeks back and ever since I have not been receiving visual voicemail notifications. Initially I thought people were just not leaving me voicemails but once I finally called into voicemail by holding the number one on my iPhone keypad to check voicemail I realized I had 25 voicemails. Once they were all cleared out I moved on the trying to fix the visual voicemail issue which turns out is really easy to resolve by following the below steps.

Recently I wrote an article about how to install clear via Cygwin on Windows however I used the Yellowdog Updater on CentOS Linux to first figure out what package installs clear. Below I describe how to use yum to figure out what Linux package installs a specific application followed by installing clear or verifying the package that provides clear is already installed.

When I SSH to Linux servers I use the clear command a lot. This allows me to quickly reset the shell interface so there is no output so depending on if I have typed the incorrect command numerous times or the screen is filled without from something like the locate command I find it really useful to reset the interface so the screen is blank again without having to hit enter 50 times. On all of my Windows machines I have Cygwin installed to provide as much of a Linux feel as possible however I never have taken the time to figure out what installs the clear command so I could have the same luxury of clearing the windows Command Prompt or the Console2 application I use on a regular basis. Below I describe how to install clear on Windows using the Cygwin application.

We have been refurbishing a bunch of Xbox 360′s lately in our computer shop and today I was going to test one out for an extended amount of time so I needed to find a monitor or something to display the output of the Xbox 360. I tried getting it working on a Dell 1950FP monitor which has a DVI input but it wasn’t working properly so I figured I would try to reset the display settings on the Xbox 360 to see if that would make a difference. Use the instructions below to reset the display settings on your Xbox 360 from the Xbox 360 controller.

A client of mine was trying to visit a web site they use for medical research in Internet Explorer 8 and was obtaining an error from the web site. The site noted that cookies and JavaScript must be enabled to use the site which according to the client were both enabled. Below are instructions on how to enable JavaScript in IE8 as well as how to verify that cookies are enabled in IE8 as well.
