I travel a lot and I have noticed that the timezone on my mac book wasn’t updating properly. I was getting lots of wrong meeting times in Outlook and various other apps that depend on time. I was getting pretty annoyed at this and decided to figure out what was up. I was pretty sure this was supposed to happen automatically so I decided to have a look and figure out what was going on.date, error, firewall, Mac, macbook, ntp, preference, pro, System, time, timezone

Alex and I rewired our entire network the other day with cat 6 cable and new gigabit switches. Once we got it all set up we decided to do some testing. One of the tests we ran was transfer speeds from our file server to our laptops. We were trying to determine the network linkspeed when all of a sudden I realized that I had no idea how to do this on my mac. We decided to figure it out, and when we did, we of course wrote a article to help every one else. Below I will outline the simple steps to view your link speed in Mac OSX.applications folder, book, interface, link, Mac, mac dock, monitor, network, network utility, OSX, pro, speed

Alex and I were redoing our shop network today and we had to do some configuring on our Cisco switch. Normally this is no big deal but because I switched to mac recently I realized that I had no clue how to console into a Ciso switch. After a little googling I found a free program called zterm which people said would work. I use a proprietary program called Secure CRT which does console conections but if you do not have that check out zterm.
The day I got my new Macbook pro I was searching around and installing the mac versions of all my favorite software. When I got to Skype I of course, downloaded the most current version. The program installed fine but when I entered my credentials and hit connect Skype just hung there for about ten minutes and then said it was unable to connect. This was pretty unusual since Skype has always been a great program so I decided to get to the bottom of the problem so I could hopefully help the next person who has this problem.10.6, Apple, connect, leopard, Mac, macbook, pro, problems, skype
