One key that always gets in the way for me on any keyboard I use is the caps lock key. On Windows 7 I use a third party application to disable the caps lock key as noted in this article. On Mac OSX the functionality to disable the caps lock key is built in so it doesn’t require any third party software. Use the information below to disable the caps lock key on your Macbook laptop or other computers running OSX. I believe the functionality to disable the caps lock key was added in OSX 10.4 and I can confirm that it is still available in OSX Lion or OSX 10.7.1.

Awhile back I reinstalled Windows 7 on my Dell XPS 1340 because I wanted to make my computer faster and I definitely accomplished that goal. Couple nights ago I was working in a dark area and noticed that the backlight on the keyboard was not illuminated so I started to wonder if it had ever worked after the upgrade. We recently purchased a Roku Digital Video Player at our office and have been experimenting with it. The Roku remote is very simple with minimal buttons which is nice in most scenarios but whenever you have to type anything into the Roku it is fairly annoying that there is not a keyboard available. To resolve that issue and require you to have one less remote on your coffee table it is worth checking out DVPRemote which is an iPhone application that lets you take full control of your Roku device. Last weekend I found myself working on a laptop that had numerous problems including it could not boot. After fixing the Master Boot Record(MBR) the computer was able to boot but the mouse was not working. It is fairly easy to navigate around a Windows XP computer without a mouse however right clicking is something that can be missed. Use the information below to right click on a computer that doesn’t have a mouse installed.

I have been fairly impressed with Windows 7 and my new Dell laptop. One of the items that had been getting on my nerves was the fact that I would randomly zoom in or zoom out of various screens I was on specifically when using a web browser. This is done by pinching two fingers together on the Dell touchpad and while I was not doing this on purpose the way I use the touchpad must simulate this pinch an awful lot. Follow the directions below to disable the pinch zoom for your Dell touchpad on a computer running Windows 7 or Windows Vista.
