F5 Refresh On OSX, Key Combination To Refresh A Web Page On Mac OSX

One thing I do on a regular basis when using web browsers on Windows is to click the F5 button to refresh a web page. On a Mac running OSX this does not function by default however it is easy to add a key combination to simulate this so it functions as it would in Windows. Use the information below to set up a key combination configuration to allow you to click fn-F5 on your Mac running OSX to refresh web pages in Chrome. The function+F5 key combination already works in Firefox and Command+R refreshes web pages in Safari.

Install F5 BIG-IP LTM VE Trial In VMware

The F5 BIG-IP hardware line is fairly amazing so needless to say I was really excited to find out that there was a VMware image and VirtualBox image available to trial. This allows people not only to check out the BIG-IP software, which is built on top of CentOS Linux, but also the ability to easily test configurations. Below I describe the process all the way from downloading the actual VMware image and launching the image in VMware Player to logging into the BIG-IP LTM VE instance and enabling the trial license.

When setting up a BIG-IP instance as a VM or virtual machine there were various settings that I wanted to become more familiar with and make sure I understood. F5 typically has really great documentation but some of it can be hard to locate and filtering through pages and pages of information to find a small amount of information can be a pain. Activate F5 BIG-IP LTM VE Trial License, Enter BIG-IP LTM VE Base Registration Key

One of the requirements for initial configuration of the F5 BIG-IP LTM VE is to enter a license key. In this example we are configuring a BIG-IP LTM VE VMware image 90 day trial for testing. The way to accomplish this task is first login to the console using these instructions, next login to the BIG-IP LTM VE GUI using these instructions, and then follow the steps below which will walk you through activating the F5 BIG-IP LTM VE trial using the license key that was emailed to you by F5.
