Tonight I was cleaning up a Windows 7 desktop I use for various development tasks by uninstalling dozens of applications that had been installed over time for testing. On this computer I probably keep one application long term for every 20+ applications that I install so you can imagine how messing the Programs & Features list was. Anyhow when attempting to uninstall one of the applications I received an error stating that the application was specifically designed for Windows Vista, Windows XP, or Windows Server 2003 and then would not allow removal of the application to continue. More information regarding the error and how I was able to uninstall the application are included below.

Earlier today I was asked by a user via a Question Defense comment on how to play a WMV file that would not play by default via Windows Media Player. There are numerous tools available that will provide information about audio/video files and the codecs needed to play them but I have found that AVIcodec works really well in most situations. Below is information on how to install AVIcodec and how to analyze video files once AVIcodec is installed.

When using Roxio Creator Premier 2010 to encode a video to DVD format and burn to disc I received an error. I have been burning AVI, MPEG, MP4, Quicktime, and other video formats using this version of Roxio Creator 2010 for some time so I was surprised to receive an error. Initially I thought that the error was caused by file permissions on the file because a friend had provided it to burn and this was the only initial difference that I could find with the video versus other videos that I had burned. Below I describe how to troubleshoot this error and what I eventually did to resolve and move past this error. In the end I was able to burn this video using Roxio Creator 2010.
