textplus is the best. people tend to get caught up with the possibility of sending free texts, but i love it for its group messaging abilities

You sure do love textplus. I checked and any blog or site that mentions textplus has a response from you stating that it is the best application and should be purchased…. you must really just love the app!

Hello Madison,
There are a couple applications that should work for you as long as you are only attempting to send text messages to cell phones in the United States. I think the reason for this is because the applications use the cell phones email address instead of direct SMS messages.
Two options available for sending text messages from your iPod Touch:
Click the grey iTunes button next to either application to automatically launch the iTunes store directly to the application itself where you can easily purchase the free text messaging application or where you could simply obtain more information about the free text messaging applications.
1. TextNow Unlimited: Cost $0.99
2. textPlus Ad-Free: Cost $1.99
Either one of the above applications will allow you to simulate SMS messaging (text messages) from your iPod Touch.
