How to See if Internet Explorer is 32 Bit or 64 Bit
Posted by alex in Insights at 3:51 PMIt is really easy to tell the difference between Internet Explorer 32-Bit version and the 64-Bit version if you know what you are looking for. You will first need to bring up the About Internet Explorer window by following the below steps.
- Help Menu: Click the help menu which is typically to the right of the home icon in the top right of your Internet Explorer window.
- Select About IE: Select About Internet Explorer from the bottom of the Help drop down.
A new window will pop up that should look like the below.
The above example shows what the 32-Bit version of Internet Explorer looks like. The only difference with the 64-Bit version will be that it states “64-Bit Edition” after the Version number in the top line. For instance the below.
Version: 7.0.5730.11 64-Bit Edition
You can also look to see what directory the Internet Explorer executable file is located in. 32-Bit versions will be in C:\Program Files (x86)\Internet Explorer\ while 64-Bit versions will be in C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\ on 64-Bit Vista installations.
